The Proteomic/Mass Spectrometry facility platform (MASSPROT) of UCL is part of the Institute of Life Sciences (P. Morsomme, Louvain-la-Neuve) and the de Duve Institute (D. Vertommen, Woluwé). The platform provides proteomics services principally through 2D-gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry.

The platform is equipped with state of the art LC-MS/MS instrumentation consisting of:

  • The latest generation Orbitrap Fusion Lumos tribrid mass spectrometer equipped with CID, HCD, ETD, EThcD
  • A linear ion trap (LTQ XL) equipped with ETD
  • A high resolution ESI-QTOF equipped with CID, ETD and Ion mobility (Synapt G2-Si)
  • Several online and offline HPLC for multidimensional chromatography

A large panel of MS-based methods is implemented allowing generation of qualitative and quantitative data sets to explore biological processes at the molecular level. We specialized in the identification and quantification of soluble and membrane proteins from complex samples. We can also provide data on the location of post-translational modifications, even in complex samples.
